After an incredible wedding weekend (post to come!) we headed to LAX to fly to Morocco for our honeymoon with a layover in London. This trip is the first time we’ve ever used a trip planning service (Truffle Pig), and we were excited to forgo the trip planning while also planning a wedding, and to put our trust in someone else so that we didn’t have to consider logistics. Of course, we had reservations. Would we enjoy luxury travel? Would we miss our independence? Would we feel disconnected or guilty for traveling this way? But mostly, we were just excited to spend time together exploring a new country, still riding the emotional high from our wedding. Continue reading

Weekend in Lisbon
We didn’t know what to expect from our weekend break to Lisbon. We knew the history of the city’s too recent torrid history, of the winding alleys and yellow trams. But we came, mostly for the sun, food, and an escape from Dublin. To idle our days walking and eating. Which is precisely what we achieved, with the added bonus of zipping around on a vintage Vespa exploring the coast. We didn’t stay long, we only saw a few highlights of this city, but we loved every moment of it and are eager to return to see the rest of Portugal.
Exploring Dublin: Blackrock
One of the questions I get a lot from people back home about living in Ireland is “what is it like?” And to be honest, Dublin, and Ireland in general doesn’t feel all that different from living in the states. I’m not the only one, most North American expats in our circle of friends feel the same. After awhile, the Irish accents fade, and you stop noticing them. And although you hear accents from all over the world, having spent the majority of my adult life in major cities, this doesn’t feel at all foreign. Basically, I forget we’re in Europe. And indeed, Dublin shares many common aspects to living stateside. One of which, is the lack of adequate public transit. And nothing makes me feel like I’m stateside more than not being able to rely on public transportation (outside of New York).
Lately: To America and Back.
The last two months have been, to say the least, a whirlwind. In two of those weeks I flew eight flight segments and over 10,000 miles. From Dublin to Amsterdam and back, to San Francisco, Denver, Washington State, to Los Angeles. Now, I’m back in Dublin. I have been for bit and yet, I’m just now feeling like I’m actually home, processing all that happened since mid March.
