Deciding to see Machu Pichhu in one day, we woke up at 5am on Thursday to get to Poroy, 20 minutes by cab from Cusco to catch our train to Aguas Calientes (3 hours by train). Once in Aguas Calientes, a tiny town in the valley below Machu Picchu we took a 30 minute bus up the hill to theĀ entrance. Even though its the rainy season (the main reason we opted against hiking the Inca trail up) we were lucky enough to have a nearly clear day! The first thing we noticed, was the lack of security. While there are guards and a few ropes suggesting you ought not to go in certain areas, there weren’t many. Essentially, you could wander around at your leisure, clearly, we weren’t in the US any more…
